Nashville's Tristen Visits the Echo Los Angeles -- 02/01/2011

So there is a new lovely female vocalist in Nashville-town and her name is Tristen.  She graced LA with her presence Tuesday night at the Echoplex to a small but appreciative crowd.  The night began with performances by local acts Marcus Very Ordinary and Hi Ho Silver Oh.  Although the local acts leading up to the headliner left a little to be desired, Tristen certainly seemed to deliver on what I was hoping for.  Solid musicianship by her 3 piece backing band, a nice and friendly stage presence, and overall a good straightforward night of enjoyable tunage.

Some of the highlights were Alt. Country infused 60s-feeling pop with wry witty take on love song lyrics like "Tame that nasty shrew, cause she knows what you're up to, you've got to keep her thin and hungry so she's eager for your love.  "The other standout single on the album is of course the popular "Baby Drugs" and according to the singer, "This song is about your baby doing drugs. It's a love song really. It's all about loving someone for exactly who they are if they were to change."

All in all, a great show, worth the $8 ticket and enduring the two opening bands.  Tristen is on tour and could be coming to a city near you, check our her MySpace for tour date details:
